If you have a friend who loves to hog the mic, you can call them a 麦霸 (mài bà) which means a “mic hog” Depending on the context it can be a joke or a complime...

    Thank you for your interesting videos. I have a question, if you don't mind. Given that ethnic minority people in China do use polysyllabic last and given names, why can't we just live with the fact that we are foreigners and use polysyllabic nouns? Why is 2-syllable last name and a 3 syllable given name a problem?

    I’ve only had one Chinese friend named Grace that’s the name she used since people had difficulty speaking her name. We used to sit together at church and at potlucks. Although she barely spoke English I felt a special connection with her and I loved her as a sister. She got married and moved. It was nice having her as my friend and I will never forget her.

    It's good in the beginning, but after some time, you get these annoying "3 misstakes, and you can't play anymore unless you spent money." And generally, a lot of the additional content is locked behind a paywall as well, so you can only learn to a certain point for free. I think that is fair though, because a benefit of the app is that you will not get any ads at all, and the developers need to make money somehow.

    What's Wok Hay?

    • @watsonhuang4760
      @watsonhuang4760 Рік тому

      Wokhay is 锅气, the breath of wok, or wok ash., or wok smoke. When you stir fry the wok with strong fire, the wokhay is formed. It gives Chinese dish a strong stir fried flavor and that’s what makes Chinese cuisine special. I’m pretty addicted to this flavor tbh 😂
